Belgium is located between the Germanic north and Latin south. This division is clear in the constant regional bickering between Dutch-speaking Flanders and French-speaking Wallonia. Brussels is the capital and sees itself as the "capital of Europe" since it hosts the main institutions of the European Union and is the headquarters of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
